PHCC WEST EVENT DOUBLES TRADE SHOW SIZE

Organizers of the 115th PHCC West event, held May 11-14 at Harvey’s Casino & Resort in Stateline, Nev., said the 2016 edition of the event doubled the size of its trade show component and featured attendees from across the Western region.

“We did double the amount of tradeshow participants, and we appreciate their generous support,” said PHCC of California executive vice president Tracy Threlfall, adding there were 125 members of affiliates registered for the intimate event. “Our affiliates recognize that we are the leader in innovation both at the state and local level, and are engaged with the PHCC of California membership.

“Highlights of the event included keynoter Jack Wolf, a specialist in workforce learning, presentation and communications skills and performance improvement: “Millennials want to have a say in the business. They don’t want a ‘sage on the stage’ presentation,” Wolf said, suggesting business owners and other authority figures should, “ask more questions and make fewer statements.”

The event also saw the presentation of a $2,500 check from the California PHCC board’s Copper for Kids program to Sierra Forever Families in Sacramento, a private nonprofit that makes connections between foster children and potential forever families.

In other action, Geno Caccia of James Caccia Plumbing, Inc. of San Mateo, Calif., was installed as PHCC of California president for the 2016-2017 term and Scott Harrison of Scott Harrison Plumbing & Heating in Stanton, Calif., was voted PHCC of California Contractor of the Year for 2016.
