In Memoriam – Robert Herman “Bob” Painter (1929-2016)

Bob PainterBorn in Alameda, Ca May 5, 1929 and died March 12, 2016 in Carmichael, CA surrounded by his loving family after a brave long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his first love and wife, June Painter, brother William Painter and his parents, William and Helen Painter. He is survived by his children, Karen Birdsall (Rick), Jody Painter, and Kevin Painter (Karel); grandchildren Bjorn Wood (Alice), Candice Wood, Jessica Painter, Kelsey Painter, Shannon Dayton (Draper), Kristen Birdsall; great-grand-children Zoe Wood and Stella Dayton; and his devoted companion of 25 years, Joan Lemmon.

Bob served his country in the Air Force Reserves and In 1958 brought his family to Sacramento to start his own business, Painter Plumbing. He was active in the plumbing industry serving in many organizations such as PHCC, APMC, and IAPMO. Bob was instrumental in the PHCC of the Sacramento Valley and the formation of the PHCC GSA Training Facility.

He was a loving husband and father who touched the hearts of all who knew him, with his magnetic personality , amazing sense of humor and unforgettable smile. Bob was always serving others and managed to handle most things as if it were just a “piece of cake!” After retiring, he loved spending his time traveling worldwide and playing golf with friends. He will be forever loved and missed.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave., Sacramento, CA 95841. Following will be a celebration of Bob’s life at the Carmichael Elks Lodge, 5631 Cypress Ave., Carmichael, CA 95608. In lieu of flowers Bob requested remembrances be made to St. Vincent de Paul, Sacramento Children’s Receiving Home, or a charity of your choice.
